R.H. is a 58-year-old male who came to the clinic in the summer of 2024. This patient had not been to a health care provider for approximately 9 months and was not taking any medications to manage his diabetes. The patient was assessed on his first visit and was ordered lab work to determine his current status. The staff cleaned and dressed a foot ulcer that had been there for some time. The clinic’s podiatrist saw the patient to assist with his care. The patient required further testing to determine the course of treatment. The clinic staff was also assisting the patient in obtaining charity care from the Cleveland Clinic and later Medicaid, as he was unable to continue working due to his ulcers.
While all of this sounds very grim, the staff was happy that this patient was finally getting the care and treatment he needed to help monitor for any potential complications of diabetes. The clinic also assisted the patients in applying for Social Security disability since he will not be able to work for some time. Since obtaining Medicaid, he is now seeing another primary care provider, podiatrist, and wound center, all to help him with his medical needs.
In 2025, Tuscarawas Clinic for the Working Uninsured saw 176 patients over a total of 363 visits! Your donations make a real difference by providing a place where patients can obtain assistance in managing their primary health care needs.
